These are just a few of the words used by critics and fans to describe the new jump/swing combo THE SCARLET DUKES. This is a group of musicians whose many influences have combined together to create a new and exciting sound.
Below are brief descriptions of each player in this musical montage.
Ben McGuire
A native of New York City, Ben spent several years as a fixture on the Los Angeles and San Francisco jazz scenes. Recently he returned to the east coast to continue his musical studies and seek enlightenment. He has recorded and peformed with the noted combos ONE LEGGED BOG and THE SWING DOLLS.
Tom Mattioli
Vibraphonist extrodinaire, Tommy leads his own latin jazz combo and is involved in a variety of other performing and recording projects.
Meg Macan
This exciting young vocalist has taken New York by storm! Visit Meg's website for more inforamtion.
Phil Fontaigne
Originally from the musically rich Gulf Coast of Texas, Phil has performed, recorded, and toured internationally with such bands as VOODOO MARTINI, CERTAIN GENERAL and THE CORVAIRS. In January 2000 Phil's solo album "Lowlife Street" was released in Europe by Last Call Records (France).
Gigi
Plays acoustic and electric bass professionally and studies with Ron Carter.
Chic Danko
Chic cut his musical teeth in Chicago's cutthroat jazz scene. After moving to the Big Apple he mellowed and has become one of the city's most in demand session players.
